Πώς εμφανίζεται η ηχώ;

Οι καθρέφτες θα ρέουν τις εικόνες και θα στείλουν το φως πίσω. Οι τοίχοι επίσης στέλνουν πίσω τις φωνές. Αν σταθείς λίγο πιο μακριά από έναν ψηλό τοίχο ή ένα μεγάλο γκρεμό, θα ακούσεις τη φωνή σου να γυρίζει πίσω μερικά δευτερόλεπτα αργότερα.

Εάν ένα ηχητικό κύμα συναντά έναν τοίχο ή μια υψηλή και πλατιά επιφάνεια βράχου, περιστρέφεται προς τα πίσω προς την πηγή του. Έτσι γίνεται η ηχώ. Εάν ο ήχος που εξάγεται είναι σύντομος και τα ηχητικά κύματα φτάσουν στην μπαταρία ως φυσιολογικά, η ηχώ ακούγεται καθαρά. Τα ίχνη του ήχου παραμένουν στο αυτί για 1/10 δευτερόλεπτα.

Επειδή η ταχύτητα του ήχου στον αέρα είναι 340 μέτρα ανά δευτερόλεπτο, η απόσταση μεταξύ της πηγής ήχου και της μπαταρίας να είναι μια ηχώ πρέπει να είναι τουλάχιστον 17 μέτρα.
