Bit tedavisinde parazitlerin solunum yollarını kapatan kimyasal ilaçlar veya kaslarını etkileyen ilaçlar kullanılabilir.
Birkaç tedavi türünü beraber kullanmak etkili olur.
Bit tedavisi uygulandıktan sonra saçlardaki bit yumurtalarının (sirke) tektek tarak ile temizlenmesi gerekir.

Bir hafta geçtikten sonra bit tedavisi aynı şekilde tekrarlanması gerekir.
Diğer aile bireylerinin de en az bir kere kontrol edilerek tedavi edilmesi gerekir.
Saç bitleri ve yumurtaları nemli veya yağlı ortamı sever. En iyi beslenebildiği yerler saçlardır.
Saç bitleri kan emici bir parazitdir. Saça yerleştiği zaman yumurtalarını bırakmaya ve üremeye başlar.
Kepek ile saç biti yumurtası bazen ayırt edilemez.
Kepek yassı ve dökülgendir.
Bit yumurtası ise oval ve saça tutunur. Tırnakla sıkıştırınca çıt diye ses çıkararak patlar.
Eczanelerde saç bitleri ve yumurtalarından kurtulmak için şampuanlar satılmaktadır. Bunları uygulayabilirsiniz.
Gaz yağı gibi tehlikeli kimyasalları saçınızda denemeyin. Saç derinize zarar verebilirsiniz.
Bitkisel olarak elma sirkesini saçınızın diplerine kadar sürün ve bit tarağı ile sürekli tarayın. Bunu günde 2 veya 3 kez yapabilirsiniz.
Eğer çocuğunuz okula gidiyorsa saçlarını kısa kestirmek faydalı olacaktır.
Bit temiz saçı daha çok tercih ettiği gözlemlenmiştir. Bulaşıcı bir parazittir.
Saçtaki toka, tarak, saç bandı, eşarp ve yastık kılıfı yumurtanın bulaşması için en uygun ortamdır. Temizlenmesi gerekir.
Bit şampuanı nasıl uygulanır?
Saçlar kuruyken belli bölümlere ayrılır ve taranır. O bölümlere yaklaşık 20 cm uzaklıktan sprey sıkılır. Elle ovuşturulur. İlaç etki etmesi için 15 dakika beklenir. Şampuan ile saçlar ıslatılmadan ovalanır. Köpürtüp yıkanır. Özel bit tarağı ile taranır. Kuruduktan sonra kontroller yapılır.
Gerekirse bir hafta sonra aynı işlem terkarlanır.
