Tannproteser er delt inn i faste proteser og bevegelige proteser.

Fast protese: Den er delt inn i fast protese med implantert støtte og kronet broprotese.

Bevegelig protese: Full bevegelsesprotes, Delvis bevegelig protese, Implant-støttet bevegelig protese.


Implantert støttede flyttbare proteser er klassifisert etter typer ledd.

Delvis bevegelige proteser er delt inn i to, en er flettet og den andre er sensitiv brakett

Helt bevegelige proteser er delt inn i to, normale og støttede.


Det er magnetiske proteser som brukes på pasienter som ikke har for mye støttende vev, har ingen tenner på munnen, og har overdreven tap av kjeveben.


Noen ganger kan det ønskede resultatet ikke oppnås i totale proteser som brukes i fulltandløse pasienter.
